Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and nothing is sent to us.
How strong is it?
It uses AES-256 in GCM mode. The key comes from your password through PBKDF2 with 600,000 rounds and a random salt. The encryption is very strong, so the password is the weak point. Use 12 or more characters.
What if I forget the password?
The data can't be recovered. Nobody can open it without the password, including us, because we never see it.
Will it notice if someone changes the encrypted data?
Yes. GCM adds a check value, so changing even one character makes decrypting fail with a clear message instead of giving back wrong text.
Can I open the result with another program?
Not directly. The format is specific to this tool, so keep using it to decrypt. It's a simple format, though, so the data isn't locked to us.
