What is an aspect ratio?
The relationship between width and height, written as two numbers such as 16:9. A 1920 x 1080 image and a 1280 x 720 image have the same ratio, so they look the same shape.
How do I resize without stretching?
Keep the ratio fixed. Pick the new width and use the matching height from the calculator, instead of changing both numbers separately.
Which ratio should I use?
16:9 suits most video and screens, 1:1 is common for profile photos, 4:5 or 9:16 suits phones and social stories, and 3:2 and 4:3 are common for photos.
Why is the height sometimes rounded?
Pixels are whole numbers, so heights that wouldn't be whole are rounded to the nearest pixel.
