Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate hours worked?
Subtract the start time from the finish time, then take off any unpaid break. 9:00 to 17:30 with a 30 minute break is 8 hours.
What about shifts that go past midnight?
If the finish is earlier than the start, the tool counts the time through midnight, so 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours.
What are decimal hours?
Hours written as a decimal, so 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5. Payroll often uses them to multiply by an hourly rate.
What time formats can I type?
9:00, 17:30, 9am and 5:30 pm all work. Durations can be 1:30, 1h 30m, 90m or 1.5h.
