Frequently asked questions

Which citation styles are covered?

APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition and Chicago 17th edition in the notes and bibliography form. You can switch between them and the same details are reformatted.

What kinds of source can I cite?

Websites, books and journal articles. They cover most of what students cite, and the form changes to ask for the right details.

Does it look anything up for me?

No. You type the details yourself, so nothing is sent over the internet. That also means you should check the details you copy from a page.

Is the italic formatting kept when I copy?

Yes. Copy reference puts the formatted version on your clipboard, so italics and hanging indents carry over into Word and Google Docs. In plain text editors you get the text without italics.

Can I build a whole reference list?

Yes. Press Add to my list for each source. The list is sorted by author in the style's order and saved on this device, and you can copy it all at once.
