Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
What is EXIF data?
Hidden details stored inside a photo: the camera or phone, the date and time, the settings, and often the GPS location where it was taken.
Does removing it change the picture?
Not for JPG, PNG and WebP. The details are cut out of the file and the picture itself isn't touched, so there's no loss of quality.
Why keep the rotation?
Phones record which way up you held them in the same hidden data. If you remove it all, some photos show sideways, so the tool can keep just that one setting.
What about HEIC photos?
Convert them to JPG first with the HEIC to JPG tool, which leaves the location and camera details out. Other kinds of picture are saved again as a JPG, which also drops them.
