Frequently asked questions
How much should I tip?
Customs vary. In the United States 15 to 20 percent is usual at restaurants, while many other countries include service in the bill or expect only a small tip. Check local custom when you travel.
Is the tip worked out before or after tax?
The calculator applies the tip to the bill amount you enter. If you want to tip on the pre-tax amount, enter that figure instead of the final total.
How do stacked discounts work?
A second discount is taken off the already reduced price, so 20% off and then another 10% off is 28% in total, not 30%.
Does the discount calculator add tax?
Yes, if you enter a tax rate. The tax is added to the price after the discounts, which is how most shops charge it.
